Wakes Laboratory

Been awhile since I posted, been very busy with work, school, moving, modding etc. Heres some progress though.
Ive always loved non humanoid alien races, especially for 6/8mm there just isnt enough variety to do really kool things. But these guys im working on will be a challenge for any infantry engagement.

In addition I wanted to show the scale of my stuff, im probably too OCD about it actually, that theres a consistent and evident internal scale. It irks me beyond compare when I see no attempt at difference in scale between for instance species that should have it. Arguably it doesnt matter, 6/8mm is small enough that when playing large games youre really not going to tell.
But I like the detail, I like the option of diorama, I like the presence.
Some people may not care, but I want my Terminators to be a REAL sight to behold for infantry, the true walking tanks that they are, holding weapons humans couldnt pick up much less fire. Thats just one example, but scale matters, and it will continue to matter in my designs going forward.

Did you manage to print some of them already ? Any picture ?

Unforunately I have not had time to print any of the new stuff I have done because I've been so busy. Honestly messing with my photon takes all day pretty much.

Anyway now that ive got my design procedure down I think these will come out great so no need to necessarily do test prints. There are however some pics of prints on the first page here and on my Facebook page of some of the other models.

These guys are stylized futuristic Fascistic Police, named the ISB or Internal Security Bureau. They are a creation of one my groups role playing games. Expect to see more things like this in the future and more for this line.

Some of you may remember that I started some very R rated Deamonettes awhile back, those got wiped from a hard drive awhile ago. However I did start new and hopefully improved ones now.

Its been now quite some time indeed since my last post. Between the sudden passing of my mother and this site being unavailable for awhile there just wasnt time for an update. I have done quite a few sculpts since the last post on wide variety of subjects but all designed for 6mm.
I also got my first commission for ancient chinese from Microworlds games so expect news on that to be coming out soon.

This post as a result is going to be VERY pic heavy. I will try to add context to most of the work as I post.

I finished the design work on my GMO utility walker which I was able to 3d FDM print and paint as well as add crew and baggage to.




I also ended up making a few more Assault walkers and a bunch of infantry.






I did some one off sci fi 6mm infantry with development on some future stuff for them. These ones are available on my shapeways store and may come to my gumroad.











Some new variants on Alien Infantry That I showed off previously now in physical form. These are also available on my shapeways store. I also had a friend print them in roughly 10mm scale and paint them up. I also had my own printed from shapeways and attempted a paint job on them.















I did some prototype stages of Medieval Samurai, I will go back to this but at the time was unhappy with the sculpts.





I also did quite alot of work on the Star Kingdom line with "Storm Knights" as well as the power armoured elite version and vehicles. The Storm Knights are on my shapeways page with more to come in the future the vehicles are still being worked on as I want a working interior for both the Light and Heavy versions.

There is another scif fi minor project I am working on, nothing released atm though.











I also have started a new line of 6mm fantasy orks and they will primarily be on my gumroad page. I have designed them to be 3d printer friendly and can even be printed on FDM printers like the Ender 3 which is what I printed mine on. I also did a one off troll series I will post.

I am also working on a historically inspired siege tower, it may be modular.

Je suis en train de me monter une armée de l'Alliance Rebelle pour Star Wars et je recyclerais bien les Assault Walkers pour en faire des engins de guerre (récupération du vieux matériel de la Guerre des Clones par les rebelles par exemple). Les AT-ST sont très beaux aussi et seront mieux que ceux de la boite Risk Star Wars que j'utilise actuellement pour mon armée de l'Empire.
Et les figurines de droïdes seraient parfaites pour compléter mes socles de commandement impériaux ou rebelles.

Et puis il y a les vaisseaux de Battlestar Galactica qui me font de l'oeil également. Sans parler de ceux de Star Trek.

Non vraiment c'est trop de tentation à la fois !

Je te rejoins, François. C'est superbe. Et il y a de tout, ce qui fait que chacun y trouve son compte.

Je craque sur les véhicules de Star Wars. Ils sont magnifiques. Et on voit les études réalisées pour le AT-ST !

Les vaisseaux sont également tops... Les fantassins ne sont pas dans la gamme qui m'intéresse, et pourtant il y a vraiment beaucoup de choses.

De l'excellent travail, vraiment.

@Marell the fool, sorry for the late reply. im afraid 10mm isnt really my thing, there are lots of talented designers doing that though. The excellent Forest dragon has a patreon you might check out.

Because I have ALOT to show off here I am not going to necessarily put them in any order or context as that would take more time than I have at hand. However I will try to start with the newer stuff and work my way back. Unless otherwise noted everything you see in these pictures was designed and printed by me, that includes terrain.










































In these two photos only the printed skitarii are mine, they are available free on thingiverse.

I would also like to show some development pics from the recent commission. I take commissions quite seriously and do everything I can to make sure the customer gets exactly what they want. I am heavily communicative and get the client involved showing them pics every step of the way.

In this case we are in luck because the client has a resin printer and was able to print several iterations of prototypes to make sure the models were exactly what they were after.
Here is one of the first renders I had for the client.


And following some minor tweaks. Such as resized some sections, added detail etc.


And here is the last prototype iteration he printed and I think we are both satisfied at this stage with the proportions and detail. The next steps are posing for these guys and the client as 2 other types of infantry that he commissioned.

If you want my opinion, better picture would make the difference.

Less screen prints, and more real prints. With better picture, a quick wash to make details pop. And zoomed pictures with figs on standard epic base.

Well im not so good at advertising, or really am concerned with it too much. Id rather get better at sculpting than editing photos. That said I like alot of these pics and many printed models are shown. I am a full time engineering student so I dont have the time to print and paint everything I design.

I have a bunch of new photos to share as well as an announcement.
At the end of the month I will be releasing my patreon that will include quite a few different varieties of my minis however it will be spearheaded by the start of my "Britannica Imperialis" Army I have renders of those sculpts as well as many other photos of printed and digital items.

This is the start of the "Britannica Imperialis" army. Most of these as well as many others will be available at release of my patreon later this month.
I hope to be able to do something like 1 army per 3 month period in addition to a bunch of extra stuff cycling through various settings and themes.
There are over 150 poses including infantry in formal and loose formation, command, radio, anti tank, sniper, cav, and heavy weapons. As well as limber trains and various odds and ends. each pose is different from every other and some even include augmetics.
These particular minis were made possible by commission. I would also like to stress that I am still open to commissions and would love to get any from excited customers.
